How To Cure Gingivitis With Turmeric, Coconut Oil, Baking Soda Or Lemons (No Dentist Required)

Gingivitis occurs when the gums are inflamed due to a bacterial infection, which should be treated in the early stages. The common symptoms of the condition are receding, swollen and bleeding gums. Thankfully, there are some natural remedies which can reduce the symptoms and cure the condition easily. Here are some of them:

Salt


Dissolve some salt in a glass of lukewarm water then swish the solution in your mouth to eliminate the bacteria that caused the infection and balance the pH levels in your mouth. The salt will help you reduce the swelling as well.

Ingredients


  • Half a teaspoons of salt
  • A glass of lukewarm water or mustard oil


Preparation

Add the salt in the glass of water and use the solution 2-3 times a day. You can also prepare a paste of some salt and mustard oil, then apply it on your gums and leave it to work for 3 minutes. For best results, repeat the procedure 3 times a day.

Baking soda


Baking soda can be found in every household and it has numerous beneficial uses such as alkalizing the pH levels in your mouth.

Ingredients


  • 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1-2 cups of warm water


Instructions

Swish the solution in your mouth for 10 minutes then spit it out before rinsing with warm water.

Lemon juice


Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C which has potent anti-inflammatory properties that will reduce the inflammation caused by gingivitis.

Ingredients


  • Lemon juice from one lemon
  • A glass of warm water


Preparation

Combine both ingredients and wash your mouth with the mixture every day to eliminate the bacteria and treat the symptoms of gingivitis.

Aloe Vera


Aloe Vera has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which work great against gingivitis and its symptoms.

  • Aloe Vera gel

Extract some gel from Aloe Vera leaves, then rub it on your gums to reduce the swelling and inflammation and effectively reduce the condition.

Clove oil


Clove oil has been used for oral infections and toothache for centuries. It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which will certainly help against gingivitis.

Ingredients


  • 3-5 drops of clove oil
  • Cotton swab


Instructions

Put some clove oil drops on a cotton swab, then apply it on the swollen gums for a couple of minutes, or chew on a piece of clove every day to treat and prevent gum and teeth disease.

Turmeric


Turmeric and its active ingredient curcumin have strong anti-inflammatory effects which are ideal against inflammatory diseases such as gingivitis.

Ingredients


  • 4 tablespoons of turmeric
  • 8 tablespoons of Neem powder
  • ¼ of a teaspoon of Alum powder
  • ¼ of a teaspoon of salt


Preparation

Put the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly, then transfer them in an air-tight container. To use the mixture, rub some of it on the inflamed gums and leave it to act for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water. For best results, repeat the process twice a day.

Guava leaves


Ingredients


  • 5 guava leaves
  • 2 cups of water


Preparation

Boil the water in a pot, then add the guava leaves and let the mixture simmer on low heat until the water evaporates. Leave the mixture to cool down then strain it and rinse your mouth with it 2-3 times a day.

Chewing clean guava leaves for a couple of minutes can help too, and you can also use a paste made from crushed guava leaves and water by applying it on the swollen gums.

Sage


Gingivitis can be also resolved by sage and peppermint. These plants have strong antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties which will reduce the symptoms and eliminate the bacteria that caused the infection.

Ingredients


  • 1 tablespoon of sage or peppermint
  • 1 cup of water


Preparation

Bring the water to a boil, then add the herbs and simmer on low heat for an additional 10 minutes. Leave the mixture to cool down then strain it and rinse your mouth with it a couple of times a day.

In order to prevent gingivitis, you must:


  • Brush your teeth regularly twice a day;
  • Floss every day;
  • Visit your dentist regularly;
  • Quit smoking;
  • Increase your vitamin C intake;
  • Change your toothbrush every couple of months;
  • Use mouthwash regularly;
  • Avoid consuming too much sugary foods.
